Home Classical Iradier

Sebastián Iradier (1809-1865) was best known for his habaneras, a popular style of music and dance in the 18th century.'La Paloma' is thought to be one of the most recorded songs in music history. Georges Bizet used 'El Arreglito', another piece by Iradier, in the opera 'Carmen' after mistakenly thinking it was a folk song. Bizet credited Iradier in the vocal score when he realised that his inspiration for the piece was actually an Iradier piece.

Iradier - La Paloma

A solo guitar piece with hugely Hispanic and Latin overtones. This habanera, (or dance of Havana), has a wonderful swaying theme which transports you to exotic places and bars. Great for travel sequences.
